Tatiana Montoya 

Montoya's work has attracted extensive comments and various writings by critics as well as multiple publications. Born in Colombia 1961, lives and works in Mexico since 1991, became Mexican citizen in 2001.

Her career has expanded for over 30 years, has made 30 solo exhibitions since 1989 and has participated in over 200 group exhibitions since 1984. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally in several galleries and museums both in Mexico and various countries such as, Argentina, Colombia, Canada, Cuba, China, Denmark, Germany, Guatemala, Italy, Japan, Spain, The Neatherlans, United States, Venezuela and Morocco. 

It is worth to mention some of the museums that has exhibited her work; in Mexico as the Rufino Tamayo Museum of Modern Art in Mexico MAMM, Museum of the City of Mexico, National Print Museum, Museum of the Ministry of Finance as well as many museums of contemporary art such as:  Oaxaca MACO, Yucatán MACAY, Ibero, Amparo de Puebla, CECUT Tijuana, Monterrey, Querétaro and Aguascalientes, among others; Also, she has participated in exhibitions at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Caracas, Venezuela; at the Museum of Modern Art in Cartagena and Bucaramanga in Colombia, at the Museum of Latin American Art in Long Beach, California, MOLAA; ZB Art Center of Chicago; at the Museum Centre d'exposition du Vieux-Palais in Quebec, Canada; at the House Wilfredo Lam in Havana, Cuba; Kulturstaldene Museum in Copenhagen, Denmark; at the Museum of the Guardini Foundation in Berlin, Germany; and the Marrakech Museum, Morocco.

Just as several international fairs like Art Basel Miami Fair at the Parallel Documenta IX Kassel, Germany; Contemporary Art Fair MACO in Mexico City among others.

As well has been invited through the years to work grants such as Grant Mexico City – UNESCO 1991; Scholarship European Ceramic Work Centre EKWC, s'Hertogenbosh, The Netherlands 1994; invited at the Symposium 'Mithologie des Lieux', in Quebec, Canada - Deroin 2000 Foundation.

She has also been selected on three consecutive occasions at the Rufino Tamayo Painting competition Biennial where has received honorable mentions at the Modern Art Museum of Mexico City MAMM and the José Luis Cuevas Museum in Mexico City.

As a result of his long and distinguished career her work is part of numerous public and private collections, including the permanent collection of Public and Financial Credit Museum of Mexico; Mexican Consulate in Montreal, Canada; Kassel University, Germany; Museum of Latin American ART. California, USA; Museum of Contemporary Art in Caracas, Venezuela; Wifredo Lam House Museum, Havana, Cuba, among others.

Moreover has also participated in various sculptural exhibitions in public spaces such as the exhibition "Nopales" in Mexico City and "Columns" Monumental Sculpture exposed for 2 years in the Paseo de la Reforma in Mexico City and currently and are permanently displayed on the promenade of sculptures at Santa Fe, which are part of the sculptural heritage of Mexico City and the sculpture "Equinox" Chapultepec Forest.

Should also is consider to mention her participation in various architectural projects with Legorreta + Legorreta, the St Regis Hotel in Mexico City as well as the mural paintings "Butterfly Effect" made for the lobby of the hotel St. Regis Resort Punta Mita, Nayarit, Mexico (International architecture prize).

Tatiana Montoya's work is characterized by a broad management with metals and knowledge of patinas and interesting chemical reactions, which have allowed her to develop a rich and unique palette of colors and textures with mixed materials, creating a symbiosis with leaf gold, silver, aluminum, copper, bronze and brass; what has characterized the work of this artist and this unique technical transformation has contributed, in what we might call " an Alchemy proposal for the XXI Century".
